When it comes to successful Phase I studies, we understand the need to combine state-of-the-art technology with a positive volunteer experience that builds trust and engagement.

Our investment in a new Leeds clinical research unit (CRU) will combine our existing breadth of medical resources with new opportunities to grow and drive innovation forward. From increased cGMP pharmacy space to a larger clinic bed capacity, we are expanding our capabilities to optimize Phase I studies for clinicians and volunteers alike.

How will the new CRU promote volunteer recruitment and enhance engagement?

Our proximity to public transportation and parking for cyclists minimizes travel burden to volunteers. Additionally, our dedicated visitor suite is designed to facilitate rapid screening, increasing efficiency and convenience.
When will this CRU be ready to accept new clinical trials?

Early 2023.
How many total beds will be available for Phase I studies?

We will have 100 dedicated beds—including 36 high-visibility beds—with room to grow.
How many pharmacy prep laboratories are going to be available?

The new clinic will offer four preparation laboratories—two sterile and two nonsterile to support cGMP pharmacy.
How will the CRU practice sustainability?

Our BREEAM certification means we have assessed and pursued holistic environmental opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, preserve energy and manage waste responsibly.
